Chit Chatting with Leo Anthony ? Relate Magazine

Written by: ?Jill Sheets

Godforsaken-Leo AnthonyRecently I had the honor of interviewing author Leo Anthony. ?Continue ?to read on and learn more about him, his books and who his dream cast would be for one of his books.

R: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

L: Well I?m about to start the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, as a musical theatre student. I love writing but I also enjoy drama, singing, painting, sculpting, and playing the violin. I grew up immersed within the arts, so whenever I get a chance I allow my creative juices to flow.

R: When did you start writing? What was your first story about?

L: I haven?t been writing for too long. I enjoy doing research papers; I love history and the challenge of a good essay. My English professor told me that I was a strong writer and I should challenge myself with some creative writing; and so I did. I started on a story and fell into it. My first story was Godforsaken.

R: What is your writing process? Do you out-line or just start to write?

L: I don?t have a process, it?s more like I get a jolt of inspiration and I go out buy a cup of coffee and just start typing. I like to somewhat outline what the major event will be, I write bullets for every chapter and from there I just let the story flow.

R: Tell us about your book ?Godforsaken?.

L: Godforsaken is a love story, but unlike most romance books it ends in tragedy. The characters I used are naturally bound for an unhappily ever after. These two Characters, God (Sophia) and Lucifer are naturally opposing forces that I felt would show a great example of how opposites attract.

R: How did you come up with the idea for your book?

L: I looked at my niece and I wanted a strong female character for her to admire. I thought to myself what stronger character could I possibly use than God.

R: What kind of research went into this book?

L: There wasn?t much research involved. In my religion, there are goddesses, so the concept I used has was an idea I?ve had for a long time.

R: If they were to make a movie out of this book, who would your dream cast be?

L: My dream cast would be Anne Hathaway for Sophia and Joe Manganiello as Lucifer, and although the old lady from the grocery store isn?t a major character I would love Betty White to play that part.

R: Do you have any plans on writing more books?

L: Yes I do! I am currently working on a sequel to Godforsaken and a few other stories. There is one taking place during the Salem Witch Trials that has been taking up most of my time.

R: Where can people get Godforsaken?

L: Godforsaken can be purchased at Author House, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, EBay and many other online sources. It can also be ordered into any Barnes and Noble store.

R: What are five things people may not know about you?

L: I love opera, I have many tattoos, my favorite TV show is Bones, I love sushi, and my favorite academic subject is anthropology.

R: What is the best advice you have ever gotten and by who?

L: When I was finishing up my associates degree I didn?t know which career path to take. I wanted to take a safe route instead of risking a career in the arts. My dad told me ?If you don?t wake up in the morning happy to go to work, then you?re in the wrong field.? My dad says we need a job we have a passion for, something we love to do, because if we are making a living by doing something we love, then there?s nothing more we can ask for. I think that?s great advice because many people feel pressured to go to college and get jobs because its realistic, but even though its hard we should go for our dreams before giving up.

R: What advice would you give someone who wanted to become a writer?

L: There?s only one thing I would say, DON?T BE AFRAID. There are so many talented writers out there with amazing stories but they?re afraid their story won?t make it. Some people will hate your book and some will love it. Plus any reward comes with a risk.

R: Other than this one, what is the strangest question you have ever been asked?

L: The strangest question I?ve been asked is ?Do I have any regrets??? This is a strange question because I don?t regret anything; any mistakes I made helped me grow and made me who I am today.

R: Are you or your book on any social networking sites? If so, which ones and what are their addresses? Do you have an official website? If so, what is the address?

L: I have a blog WWW.LEO-ANTHONY.COM, and I have a twitter and facebook account which there are links for on my blog. I hope to see you guys there.

R: Is there anything else you would like to add or say to your readers?

L: I hope you enjoy my book!

R: Leo, thank you for the interview. Have a great day.
