Australia's newest golf champion Marc Leishman could be robbed of a start in the British Open due to immigration issues in the United States.
Leishman became the first Australian to win on the US PGA tour this season at last weekend's Travelers Championship, moving him to the top of a British Open qualification list.
The top two players not previously eligible from a cumulative money list, taken from The Players Championship through to the Greenbrier Classic, will gain entry into the 2012 Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes on July 19-22.
But even if Leishman remains in the top two, his major championship dreams look set to be put on hold because he is in the midst of a green card application in the US.
Leishman is eligible for a green card (permanent residency) due to his marriage to wife Audrey, who is an American citizen.
However, the process is lengthy, taking usually a minimum six months and, under US immigration law, someone with a pending application for permanent residency is unable to leave the country without prior consent.
Receiving advanced parole can take around two months and, while Leishman has made an eleventh hour bid, he still must sweat out the process.
His other hope is for his green card to be processed in time, a small chance given his application was lodged five months ago.
"I definitely don't want to miss the British so hopefully it will all come through in time but we haven't even had our interview yet so I'm not sure it's going to happen," Leishman said.
"The British is probably my favourite golf tournament of the year. I love playing links golf and I love everything about the UK so it would be good to go over and have a crack at it.
"It wasn't looking real good but my lawyers have just confirmed advanced parole has been lodged ... so fingers crossed it arrives before the British and, if I qualify, I can go."
In the meantime, Leishman will take his form to the AT & T National at Congressional Country Club just outside Washington DC.
Jason Day, Adam Scott, Greg Chalmers, Robert Allenby, Nick O'Hern and Rod Pampling join Leishman in an attempt to keep the Aussie success rolling.
"It would be awesome if we opened the floodgates for all of the Aussies and more for me as well," Leishman said.
"It's funny because this week probably sets up better for me than last week although it will be tough to back up from a win.
"But in saying that, there is no reason I can't play well again. I'm hitting it well and I felt good over the ball so I'll be doing my all to keep the roll going."
Day has decided to play, despite the impending birth of his first child, given his confidence on the layout.
The 24-year-old was second to Rory McIlroy in the 2011 US Open and famously closed the tournament with 45 straight bogey-free holes.
Elsewhere, Greg Norman will return to competitive golf by playing the third major of the Champions Tour, the Senior Players Championship.
Norman will join Peter Senior in Australia's quest for a first major of any kind over the past six years.

A self-admitted football fanatic, Dr. Barry Urness is likely best known in Kelowna for founding the Okanagan Sun.
Still, as profound an effect as Urness had on the junior football club, his volunteer work in the community at large over three-plus decades reached well beyond the gridiron.
Former CHBC sportscaster Pat Kennedy first met Urness in 1981 and has marveled at his contributions to the City of Kelowna ever since.
"Barry was deeply involved in so many aspects of the community and he was so passionate about everything he did," said Kennedy. "His positive effects on the various committees, and groups and people were far-reaching. At the same time, he was humble and didn't want the accolades. Anyone who has lived here can be grateful for what Barry has done for Kelowna."
Urness passed away last Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 69.
Lawrence Nagy first met Urness in the 1970s when Nagy was playing football at Immaculata.
The two would form a lifelong friendship, and in 1988 would be indelibly tied together in local sports history when the Sun won the Canadian junior football championship. Urness was the team president and Nagy, the head coach.
"Barry was passionate, he was a tireless worker and he didn't like the limelight," said Nagy, the head coach of the Sun when the club won national championships in 1988 and 2000.
"Barry's passion wasn't really about winning championships, it was more important to build things up from nothing, and to see other people benefit and have success from the work he did. If there was something you needed done, he was the guy to call. Barry was one of a kind."
Nagy credits Urness's guidance and hard work as the main catalyst behind the Sun's first Canadian junior football title.
Urness, who founded the club, then served as the team's first president in 1981 and 1982, returned to the post in 1988.
"When he came back on board he really made things possible for us," said Nagy. "I really believe he was the man behind that championship."
Urness also helped to resurrect high school football in the Central Okanagan, served as president of the Kelowna Amatuer Sports Society for 10 years, and served on the Kelowna Civic Awards Committee for 25 years.
In 2008, he founded the Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame Museum.
Earlier this month, Urness was inducted into the C.O. Hall of Fame in the special recognition category.
Pat Kennedy, the current managing director of the COSHF, said Urness was a true visionary.
"Through all the years what strikes me is that he had great vision," said Kennedy. "He would bring people on board, like Mayor Walter Gray, and they would immediately buy into what Barry was doing. Barry's biggest asset was gathering people and leading them, and that's why he got things done."
Urness was also a renowned and loyal Saskatchewan Roughrider football fan. His brother, Ted Urness, played for the Riders from 1961 to 1970.
In addition to his involvement with sports teams and organizations, Urness was involved in many other civic and community endeavors, including serving as provincial director of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and being the honourary chairman for the first two phases of the Mission Creek Greenway project.
Dr. Urness was also recognized by the Government of Canada with a Commemorative Medallion in honour of the 125th anniversary of Confederation.
Urness is survived by his wife Betty, sons David and Dean, and five?grandchildren.
A memorial service for Barry Urness will be held Wednesday, July 4 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church.

They both lived up to their blistering rated speeds, printing out our test suite in a near-record pace. A 275,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle (with a recommended monthly duty cycle of up to 20,000 pages), as well as substantial standard and optional paper capacity, pegs the M603 series for SMB or enterprise workgroups that print massive amounts of material.
The M603N measures 15.7 by 16.3 by 20 inches (HWD) and weighs 58 pounds. The front panel has a four-line monochrome LCD and some basic control buttons: Home, Help, Stop, and Back, plus a two-way rocker control with center button. To the right is a numeric keypad for entering PIN numbers for password-protected printing; below the panel is a port for a USB thumb drive.

The M603DN is the middle model of HP?s M603 series. The M603N lacks an automatic duplexer, while the M603xh ($2,399 direct) includes the duplexer while adding an additional 500-sheet paper tray plus an encrypted hard drive.
The M603N provides USB and Ethernet (including Gigabit), with optional WiFi. I tested it over an Ethernet connection with its driver installed on a PC running Windows Vista.
Printing Speed
I timed the M603DN on our business applications suite (using QualityLogic's hardware and software for timing), at a blistering effective 14.5 pages per minute (ppm), a very good speed for its 62-page per minute rated speed that?s based on printing text documents without graphics or photos. (Our test suite includes text pages, graphics pages, and pages with mixed content.) That?s statistically tied with the M603N?s 14.3 ppm, and slightly faster than the 13.4 ppm that the Editors? Choice HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 Printer M601DN ($899 direct, 4 stars)?rated at 45 ppm?turned in. The OKI B730DN ($1,299 direct, 4 stars), rated at 55 pages per minute, tested a bit slower still, at 12 ppm.
Output Quality
The M603DN?s output quality is fine for typical business needs. Its text was slightly below par for a laser, which is still very good, suitable for anything short of demanding desktop publishing applications that require very small fonts. Graphics were of average quality, good enough for internal business use. In a couple of illustrations the printer had trouble in differentiating between similar shades of gray, so I?d want to double-check the graphics before distributing them, say, as part of a report. Photo quality was average, good enough to print out recognizable images from files or Web pages, which is about all you can expect from a mono laser.
Other Issues
The M603DN has a very low cost per page (1.2 cents), the same as the M603N. The OKI B730DN?s cost per page is 1.4 cents, while the M601DN?s running costs are 1.7 cents per page. You pay much more up front for the M603DN, but for offices with the massive printing volumes for which it is intended, the cost savings can mount quickly.
The M603DN is pricey for a mono laser, but it lives up to the adage, ?you get what you pay for.? In its case, that includes sizzling speed, ample standard and optional paper capacity, a prodigious monthly duty cycle, output quality good enough for standard business uses, automatic duplexing, password-protected printing, and a very low cost per page. If you don?t need the duplexer, the M603N will save you $250.
The LED-based OKI B730DN has the same claimed maximum duty cycle as, and even greater standard paper capacity than, the M603DN. Like the M603DN, it offers secure printing and comes with an automatic duplexer. Its speed, although impressive, is lower than the M603DN?s. Its output quality doesn?t quite match that of the M603DN, but it?s still fine for standard business uses. The OKI sells for $500 less than the M603DN, but has slightly higher running costs, based on manufacturers? current costs and yields. (You can save about $20 per 10,000 pages printing with the M603DN.) Although the OKI B730DN is a very worthy printer, I?d give a clear edge to the M603DN.
The Editors? Choice M601DN, geared toward offices with lesser printing demands than the M603 models (its maximum monthly duty cycle is 175,000 pages), is a tad slower than the M603DN, lacks password-protected printing, and has a slightly higher cost per page, but comes in at a much lower sticker price. It?s a better deal for smaller workgroups with heavy though not exceptional printing volume.
The HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 Printer M603DN, which straddles the line between an SMB and an enterprise printer, ?has what it takes to churn out humongous quantities of black-and-white pages, and its low running cost promises cost savings in time if you can get over the rather steep sticker price. It?s the best choice for offices or workgroups with exceptionally large monochrome printing needs looking for a high-end printer, and earns an Editors? Choice in that capacity.

Strasburg pitched six innings, but the Rockies rallied for a 4-2 victory over the Nationals that snapped the right-hander's six-start winning streak.
"I went out there and pounded the strike zone," Strasburg said. "It seemed they were just hitting it right beyond our gloves, basically. It's baseball and they did a good job of battling up there. They were just trying to take what was given to them and regardless of how bad it looked, they got some hits."
Jeff Francis pitched five effective innings as the Rockies won for just the fourth time in 18 games. Todd Helton delivered a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and Dexter Fowler had two hits.
Strasburg (9-2) allowed three runs and six hits. He was bidding to become the first Washington-based pitcher to win seven straight starts since Bob Porterfield did it in his final seven starts for the Senators in 1953. The last pitcher from the Nationals franchise to win seven straight starts was Pedro Martinez in 1997 for the Montreal Expos, who moved to Washington.
Strasburg helped himself with a tiebreaking RBI double in the fifth, putting the Nationals ahead 2-1. He also had a sacrifice in the third that set up Ryan Zimmerman's run-scoring double.
But the Rockies went ahead for good in the sixth. Fowler led off with a triple into the right-field corner. Strasburg then beaned Marco Scutaro with his first pitch, with the ball bouncing off Scutaro's helmet. He got up quickly but was replaced by Chris Nelson after being examined by Rockies trainer Keith Dugger.
Strasburg said he threw a sinker that got away from him.
"It's part of baseball and you try and get in and obviously, you never want to hit a guy in the head," he said. "You think about it for a second, hope that he's OK. But once I saw him walk off I figured he'd be OK."
Rockies manager Jim Tracy said after the game that Scutaro "is going to be OK."
Carlos Gonzalez followed with a run-scoring single, and Michael Cuddyer's base hit loaded the bases. Helton then drove in Nelson with a fly ball to center field.
"Helton did a good job on a breaking ball," Strasburg said, "getting a piece of it and to hit it to center. I did what I could based on the circumstances."
Strasburg struck out eight and walked one. He had not allowed more than two runs in each of his past four starts.
Nationals rookie Bryce Harper went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.
Josh Roenicke (3-0) followed Francis with two scoreless innings. Matt Belisle worked the eighth and Rafael Betancourt finished for his 12th save.
"It is a good win, but only one win," Helton said. "We need to get a few more of these to get our season going."
Betancourt allowed consecutive one-out singles, bringing up pinch-hitter Roger Bernadina. He hit a hard liner to right field but just a few steps from Cuddyer. Betancourt then got Danny Espinosa to bounce out to second to end the game.
Jesus Flores had three hits and scored twice for NL East-leading Washington, which lost for the seventh time in 10 games.
"We're facing pitchers that everybody jumps all over and they look like Sandy Koufax out there," manager Davey Johnson said. "We've just got to change our approach, get a little smarter."

Brian Arredondo never really recovered from his brother?s death in the Iraq War. When they were kids, Brian adored his older brother Alexander and tagged along with him whenever he could. They were often seen playing together in parks and schoolyards in communities surrounding Boston, Massachusetts, and Bangor, Maine, where they grew up. As teens the two boys were perfect targets for military recruiters: first-generation Americans on their father?s side (he emigrated from Costa Rica), working-class youth (Alex attended a technical high school where much of the curriculum focuses on job training), living with their mother after their parents divorced when they were young. Promises of career training, male camaraderie and ?becoming a man,? appeals to patriotism, a $10,000 signing bonus, and funding for college enticed Alex Arredondo to join the marines, just a month before September 11, 2011.
Brian was distraught and seemed to lose his focus and motivation when Alex enlisted. Shortly thereafter, he dropped out of high school at the beginning of tenth grade. On August 25, 2004, a sniper?s bullet to the head killed Alex during his second deployment to Iraq. Brian?s world fell apart. On the day Alex was killed, military officials came to his mother?s house in Bangor to notify the family. Brian, 17 years old at the time, was home alone. He guessed why they were there, but they wouldn?t tell him the news until his mother, Victoria Foley, arrived. As they waited around the corner in the government van, Brian got an emotional call from his father, Carlos Arredondo, who was living in Florida at the time and had also just been notified about Alex?s death. Brian became desperate, punching holes in the walls as he paced the floor, waiting for his mother to get home. After she arrived, Brian tried to call his father to talk with him again. His distraught stepmother, M?lida Arredondo, answered the phone and told Brian to turn on the television: news coverage of a burning van outside his father?s home. Reporters announced that Carlos Arredondo had set fire to the van and been caught in the blaze. In disbelief Brian saw his father on fire, rolling on the ground, trying to extinguish the flames. Carlos lay unconscious in a hospital intensive care, burn unit for two days and nearly died from the incident. Nine days later, accompanied by two medics, he attended Alex?s wake, funeral mass, and burial on a stretcher, wrapped in bandages and with a morphine drip to numb the pain. The story made international news.
Eventually, the war in Iraq took the lives of both brothers. Flash forward seven years to December 19, 2011, when Brian?s mother and her partner found Brian hanging from the rafters of a shed in the backyard, where he had been living. No longer able to quell his despair, Brian killed himself at the age of 24. Near his body all he left was a copy of an email instant conversation between his stepmother M?lida Arredondo and a marine in Alex?s unit, who had been at his side when Alex died. Brian committed suicide the day after U.S. troops were ?officially? withdrawn from Iraq.? Perhaps he couldn?t face the fact that, unlike other soldiers, his brother would not be coming home.
The gross inequality between the rich and the poor in our country define this story. Try to imagine an alternate reality: what if Jenna Bush, the daughter of George W. and Laura Bush, enlisted in the marines and were killed by a sniper?s bullet in Iraq?? Imagine her twin sister Barbara struggling with debilitating depression and taking her own life seven years later. Would Bush and his cronies have been so willing to invade Iraq and launch a war if their own kids were going to pay the price? It?s unthinkable, of course, because the Bush twins had so many other options: Barbara attended Yale, and Jenna was offered a job as a correspondent on ?The Today Show? after she graduated from college. Military recruiters target rural and lower income youth and first-generation Americans who have more restricted access to college and careers.
When soldiers die in battle, we tend to focus on the grief of parents and spouses. Siblings often fall through the cracks. Looking back at the years since Alex?s death, M?lida Arredondo commented that Brian?s life had been a ?downward spiral? of anguish, depression, and self-destruction. Family members repeatedly reached out to Brian and tried to get him professional help for his depression, drug use, and trouble with the law. He accepted his family?s legal, monetary, and employment assistance but declined counseling. Instead, Brian put on a good front, smiling broadly and assuring the family that he was doing fine, or that he had made a new start and would do better in the future.
In retrospect, it?s clear that Brian was in distress. After Alex?s deployment to Iraq and subsequent death, Brian started self-medicating with drugs, which he often hid from his family. With time, his drug usage became more serious. He pleaded with parents and friends to loan him money, which they later learned he used to support his drug habit. He began using marijuana, and then cocaine. After one violent confrontation with the police, Brian was admitted to Bridgewater State Hospital for psychiatric evaluation in April 2011. The clinical evaluation report noted that Brian admitted to using Percocet and heroin at least once a day; hospital intake workers discovered injection track marks all over his arms.
After he was arrested for having an open alcohol container in his car, reckless driving, and several accidents, the state of Maine took away Brian?s driver?s license. He became dependent on parents and friends to transport him, which made working a job very difficult. On occasion he worked with his father and was employed at a pizza restaurant and as a janitor, but he never worked for more than a few months at a time. For most of the past seven years he was unemployed, which only exacerbated his feelings of helplessness and dependence on others.
This wasn?t the first time Brian tried to kill himself. While military officials were at his mother?s home, informing her about Alex?s death, Brian slipped away and ran into the street, looking for oncoming traffic. Later he told his parents that he wanted to be hit by a car. Still reeling from Alex?s death, in 2006 he tried to hang himself with an electric cord but failed when the cord broke. And in 2011, when police tried to arrest Brian on outstanding warrants, breaking in to the backyard shed while he was sleeping, he raised a machete and dared them to shoot him.
His troubled relationships with young women and problems with anger management signaled another facet of his distress. Almost immediately after his brother?s death, Brian became involved with a young woman?perhaps to replace his close relationship with his brother. Her father didn?t approve, had a violent confrontation with Brian, and got a restraining order to prevent him from coming to their home. Their relationship was rocky and punctuated by abusive and destructive behavior. A second young woman also pursued Brian. There was jealousy and abuse on all sides. There were multiple incidents involving interpersonal violence and destruction of property. Girlfriends and parents called the police, who arrested Brian several times. By 2011, Brian faced a number of misdemeanor and felony charges, which had escalated in the past several years. He was scheduled to go to court on December 21, 2011, two days after he died. His mother recalled that Brian told her that he expected to be sentenced to a minimum of two years in prison, which probably wasn?t a realistic assessment. Francis J. DiMento, Jr., his attorney, told us in an interview that he thought it unlikely that Brian would do jail time for these offences (Interview, June 7, 2012).
In response to Alex?s death, M?lida and Carlos Arredondo began to speak out about their experiences. They became peace activists and advocates for support services for military personnel and their families. Carlos creates memorials designed to raise awareness about the significance of Alex?s life and sacrifice, using his military boots and uniform, medals, large photos of Alex and Brian, and numerous other mementos with personal meaning.? Sometimes he also displays a full-size coffin, calling on viewers to visualize the real cost of war in terms of individual human lives. M?lida and Carlos are well known for their activism in the Boston area, where they have lived for many years. They make it a point to meet with public officials at community events, sharing with them the stories of their sons? deaths and advocating for support services for military personnel and their families. In retrospect, since Brian?s death they have worried that they didn?t pay enough attention to him, wrapped up, instead, in their grieving for Alex and their dedication to activism. His mother, Victoria Foley, sorrowfully recounted that he seemed depressed and remote in the days before his suicide, and her attempts to get Brian into counseling were unsuccessful. The boys? deaths have taken an enormous toll on their families. The loss has redefined their lives forever, leaving them to deal with the deep despair of losing two children to the Iraq War.
This tragic series of events is a brutal reminder of the devastation that war brings: two young sons dead, with parents and family members left to wade through the unbearable grief, self-blame, devastated lives, and the narrative of youth dashed to pieces by death and sorrow. Brian never really accepted his brother?s enlistment in the military or his death in Iraq. In response, his life became a succession of dangerous actions and disastrous decisions, sending him down a path to self-destruction. It?s certainly possible to interpret Brian?s suicide as an expression of hopelessness. It?s also possible to consider that Brian ended his life as an act of resistance, reminiscent of Dylan Thomas? epic admonition to ?rage, rage against the dying of the light.?
Perhaps?compounded by substance abuse, problems with interpersonal relationships, dropping out of school, and troubles with the law?it was a refusal or inability to accept that the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq made sense. Many Americans willingly accepted, or remained silent, when Bush and his advisors launched these foolish wars, and as Obama continues them, increasing drone strikes in the region and ramping up U.S. involvement in Afghanistan while withdrawing troops from Iraq. Many stood on the sidelines watching as other people?s sons and daughters?usually the poorest and those with the fewest options?were swept up in the patriotic fervor, recruited by the military, and sent off to fight. Now we pay the price of public apathy and complicity. The deaths of Brian and Alexander Arredondo diminish us all.

The Cleveland Series is divided into three focus areas: Cleveland Runs, Cleveland Rides and Cleveland Swims. Each program centers on the skills needed to excel in each of the three endurance sports. Each program connects the participants with a group of fellow athletes to train with. Sabrina Ryan, the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator, believes this group dynamic is essential to training.

Program sessions meet two times a week, but the trainers create workouts for off days to keep the training regimen going. Training sessions increase in intensity as the weeks go on.

Bartko said swimming, in particular, is very technique-driven, and the clinics provide insight on how to master challenging skills.

Prudential Mortgage Capital Company has closed a $ 108 million commercial real estate loan in the U.K., the first financing since launching its European business earlier this year. Prudential Mortgage Capital Company is the commercial mortgage lending business of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU).
The loan is secured by a portfolio of U.K. properties: four multi-tenanted office properties in central London and a grocery-anchored retail property in the historic town of Bath. The 11-year financing marks Prudential?s first secured commercial real estate debt transaction in Europe since the opening of its London advisory office in January 2012. The portfolio?s sponsor, the O&H Group, is a family run business with considerable real estate holdings and development projects in central London and throughout the U.K.
In 2012 Prudential is targeting $ 500 million (?325 million, ?400 million) of long-term, fixed-rate senior debt transactions in Europe, with the ability to do significantly more than this. The European program is similar to the loan structures the company offers in the U.S., and as in the U.S., there is the ability to fund individual transactions of significant size. All debt will be denominated in local currency and secured by income-producing real estate. Initially the company is focusing on office, logistics, multifamily, and retail properties in and around large population centers such as London, Paris, and the major cities in Germany. On the European continent such financing transactions may also be structured in collaboration with local banks.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) ? Greece's new prime minister will not be well enough to travel to a critical EU summit in Brussels after undergoing an eye operation, the government said Sunday.
Antonis Samaras, 61, underwent surgery for a detached retina for nearly four hours Saturday, just three days after being sworn in at the head of a three-party coalition government formed after two inconclusive general elections.

'I was hoping (Saturday) that he would announce he would not go because it was a very delicate operation. ... He needs to lie at a certain angle for a certain period each day, for at least a week. He can do meetings, but he certainly can't walk," Theodosiadis said, adding that his patient would leave the hospital Monday.
Samaras has appointed new Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos to head the Greek delegation at the meeting, Kedikoglou said.
The summit could prove a key test of Greek leaders' pledges to renegotiate some terms of the country's international bailout.
Reports that the so-called troika of Greece's lenders ? the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund ? will postpone the visit of its delegation, originally planned for Monday, were not confirmed by Samaras' office. European Commission spokesman Amadeu Altafaj Tardio said that troika staff "will be moving to Athens starting (Monday)."
The debt inspectors are due to review the country's fiscal situation and resume talks that had been put on hold during the country's nearly two-month political deadlock.
Greece's incoming finance minister, Vassilis Rapanos, was also hospitalized Friday after suffering a collapse. A hospital spokeswoman said he was expected to be discharged either late Monday or Tuesday after further tests. But because his swearing in had to be postponed due to his ill-health, outgoing Finance Minister Giorgos Zanias still holds the title and will attend the summit.
Zanias, who was a key negotiator for Greece's bailout deal before being named to the post, will be accompanied by Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis and Alternative Finance Minister Christos Staikouras.
Zanias himself had suffered chest pains and high blood pressure and was hospitalized in October at an EU summit, where he had accompanied then-Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos. The doctors had said he had suffered an anxiety attack. Four days later, an adviser to then-Prime Minister George Papandreou suffered a heart attack during negotiations on Greece's second bailout deal.
Greece has been dependent since May 2010 on funds from two international rescue loan deals with other European Union countries and the International Monetary Fund, in return for which it imposed a series of deep spending cuts and tax hikes.
Anti-bailout parties made massive gains in Greece's May 6 and June 17 elections, with Greeks furious at the drop in living standards by measures that have left the country struggling through a fifth year of recession and sent unemployment spiraling to above 22 percent.
Samaras' conservative New Democracy party came first in both elections, but without enough votes to govern alone. Coalition talks collapsed after 10 days in May, leading to the second ballot.
New Democracy is now in a power-sharing government with longtime socialist PASOK rivals and the small Democratic Left.
The new government on Saturday issued a policy statement outlining what it aims to change in its bailout conditions, saying it would seek to repeal some taxes, halt layoffs and extend by two years the mid-2014 deadline for tough austerity measures.
"The general aim is no more cuts to salaries and pensions, no more taxes," the statement said, adding the government would not carry out any public sector layoffs.
Whether the government can deliver on its pledges will depend on how they are viewed by Greece's international creditors. Germany, the largest single contributor to the bailout, has repeatedly said Athens must stick to its austerity targets.
German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble repeated this view Sunday, in an interview to newspaper Bild am Sonntag.
"It must now be the most important task of Prime Minister Samaras' new government to swiftly and immediately implement the agreed program without hesitation or asking, yet again, what the others could do in addition for Greece," German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble was quoted as saying. "The ball is in Greece's field; it is in their hands to achieve that Europe's citizens can regain trust. But this will only be achieved through concrete measures and actions."

In it, 78 percent of the Germans polled, 65 percent of the French and about a half of the Italians said Greece should leave the eurozone if it fails to pay its debt.

"There are many different magical experiences that form part of Cadbury House but the one I am most excited about is the Great Games Zone, where people will get the chance to try their hand at a number of sports with a Cadbury twist."
Cadbury House visitors will enter through a giant walkway which passes into the "Joyville" tasting zone where Dairy Milk chocolate can be eaten.
It will also feature a "Chocolatrium" where visitors can sample other Cadbury products including Twirl, Creme Egg, Wispa, Freddo and Dairy Milk.
In addition, there will also be a Great Games Zone where visitors can feel what it is like to be an Olympic athlete by taking part in a virtual head-to-head race with British swimming star Rebecca Adlington before receiving a celebratory chocolate medal.
